Tsukimoto Makoto (zwany Smile) jest cichym uczniem szkoły średniej, który od dawna jest przyjacielem głośnego i energicznego Hoshino Yukata (zwanego Peko). Oboje należą do klubu tenisa stołowego i są w nim bardzo dobrzy, choć osobowość Smile’a uniemożliwia mu pokonanie Peko.
